New Sony Music and Video Unlimited Releases for May 18, 2012
Sony Entertainment Network Marketing Manager Jeff Safran is here with this weekends new Music and Video Unlimited releases below, as follows:
This week, Music Unlimited features new releases from Adam Lambert, Tenacious D, and Best Coast, as well as new singles from Pantera, Santana, Beach House, and Godsmack.
Also, to celebrate the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, we've launched the 2012 Billboard Music Awards Premium Channel, which is stacked with hits from the finalists and performers.
New to the Video Unlimited Video Store this week is the mind-bending Chronicle. Also, The Devil Inside is available in Movies, and The Grey arrives in Rent Now.
The Avengers and other comic book superhero animated features are available for just five buck in this week's Own $5 Films.
Also, don't miss the Collections & Sales section where you'll discover 10-Minute Previews - yep, 10 minute previews of movies for free!
Get the full details on this week's highlights here.
This week, witness the mind-bending chronicle of great power gone awry in Chronicle. When three ordinary high school friends make an extraordinary discovery, they acquire abilities to move objects with their minds, crush cars at will, and even fly.
But as their strengths grow, so do their darker sides. When harmless pranks give way to dangerous escapades, their lives spin recklessly out of control, leading to an explosive, high-flying climax that will leave you breathless! Find the movie in New Releases in both SD and HD!
Also in Movies this week is the documentary-style horror flick - The Devil Inside. In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi confessing to three brutal murders. The courts found her insane, but something else found her first - four powerful demons. Now, her daughter Isabella must face pure evil or forsake her soul.
We're off to a great start with The Avengers kicking off a series of comic book movies coming to theaters this summer. Soak up more superhero goodness in Own $5 Films featuring Comic Book movies for only 5 bucks.
The Grey starring Liam Neeson arrives in Rent Now this week. Don't miss this adrenaline-fueled, action-packed flick with some of the most brutally realistic attack scenes ever filmed.
Pay a visit to Collections & Sales and discover 10-Minute Previews where you can watch up to 10 minutes of hit movies like Chronicle for free! Enjoyed the film? Simply make it yours by selecting "Buy Now" or "Rent now" in the Video Store.
Featured New Releases
Adam Lambert - Trespassing
Adam Lambert fans have been waiting patiently for this new album, originally slated for March, but bumped to May to allow for more time for "collaborations."
And collaborate he did. This album is stacked with A-List influencers, including Pharrell Williams, Dr. Luke and Bruno Mars, to name a few. For a man who has been pushed further into the spotlight by attempting to fill the shoes of Freddy Mercury in Queen, he is not one to keep his cards close to him.
He invites everyone into the game while still keeping all eyes on his bombastic presence, live and otherwise.
If You Like: Queen, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5
Recommended Track: "Better than I Know Myself"
Tenacious D - Rize of the Fenix
Several years after the release of their album and feature length film, The Pick of Destiny, Tenacious D have made their triumphant return. Without the bells and whistles of a movie, the D has focused their energies back to music in the same goofy, tounge-in-cheek manner that made them a touring favorite for years. However, this album is no joke.
While sometimes hiding under the veil of humor, (like lead guitarist Kyle Gass claiming to have graduated from Julliard at age 13) this album is ripe with musical prowess by way of the band's two main members and contribution from rock legend Dave Grohl.
If You Like: The Lonely Island, Weird "Al" Yankovic, Flight of the Conchords
Recommended Track: "Low Hangin' Fruit"
Best Coast - The Only Place
Just in time for the unofficial start of summer, Best Coast returns to shake the stigma of the sophomore slump with their buzzy (in music and in reputation) surf rock. This light romp covers the usual in love/out of love/ain't life grand topics, providing a breezy listen amongst the usual on slot of summer dance jams.
Want something else beach-y, breez-y and female singer-y? Check out Beach House - "Bloom"as well.
If You Like: Sleigh Bells, Surfer Blood, Cults
Recommended Track: "Better Girl"
