You know, we're pretty lucky at IGN. Sure, we get to play videogames all day, go to crazy events and travel the world, but we also get the inside dirt on games long before they go public. Even the smallest detail helps keep us sane and happy.
Of course, you don't get these details all the time. That's why you have a tendency to go off the deep end and type so fast that "the" becomes "teh." -- but that's not going to happen today. We have inside info for you to share.
That's right, the team behind Monster Madness: EX -- a SouthPeak Interactive title that has you taking four friends through a top-down adventure filled with monsters and madness -- dropped into our lives and is ready to dish about the story you'll be playing through in 2008.
Enough talk! Let's do this.
Ahh suburbia, white picket fences, Aunt Bee's apple pie cooling on the windowsill and some good old fashion... zombie hunting? Enter the world of Monster Madness: EX - Zombies, Werewolves, Vampires and Demons are invading a small suburban town wreaking havoc and mayhem along the way. It's up to you as circumstances cast you as one of the four heroes; Zack, Andy, Carrie and Jennifer. The madness all begins at Zack's house...
Our protagonist Zack, a total neo-geek dweeb, is always helping the other kids with their homework (whether he likes it or not). He's also madly in love with Carrie (an apathetic goth chick) and he's dying to tell her how he feels. During a routine math tutoring session Zack finally gets up the guts to tell her how he feels...then the doorbell rings. Damn. Zack runs to the door cursing whoever is on the other side for messing up whatever little flow he had going. As he turns the knob, Andy jumps in asking Zack about the modifications to the skateboard he was supposed to do. Talk about bad timing.
Carrie gets tired of waiting and decides to leave the boys alone to discuss "more important things." As she's on her way out, the door flings open and the head cheerleader/glamour doll Jennifer runs in, hidden in a disguise as to not be seen around such unpopular people. She takes off her shroud and demands that Zack hand over her completed homework. Poor Zack is standing in the middle of this being pulled in three different directions: the love of his life, his friend who wants a new skateboard and princess Jennifer who wants her homework NOW...
Zack's head is going a mile a minute as he stands there trying to figure out what to do first when the doorbell rings yet again. Grudgingly he steps towards the door and no sooner than that does it burst open and the crew is face to face with ZOMBIES!!! AHHHHH!!!! That's one way to kill an awkward moment...
The kids now have to get their hands on anything they can to fend off the zombie horde stampeding through Zack's house. They acquire some interesting household items to crash, smash and mangle the zombie threat! The story quickly begins to unfold as they kids make their way out of the house and realize that their entire neighborhood has been taken over! There are no adults, no police and entirely too many monsters! The kids set out to find some help and get the answers they need to figure out how something like this could happen...
