[IMGW]http://media.1up.com/media?id=3306005[/IMGW] Even though retailers have silently shifted their release date for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots from this fall to spring 2008, that's not something to get alarmed about; retailers are a good gauge for unannounced releases, but they're hardly on the inside track with release dates. Still, the complete lack of MGS4 news raises some suspicion and statements in Konami's financial results aren't helping.

MGS4 is currently listed as a revenue-driving release that will arrive on the market before the end of the company's fiscal year, which concludes March 31, 2008. Conceivably, we could be looking at a MGS4 delay out of 2007 by a few months. Having a game just after the Christmas rush -- remember Resident Evil 4 arrived January 2005 -- isn't exactly the end of the world, but MGS4 is seen as one of PlayStation 3's primary sales pushers.

No reason to panic yet, though. When we see MGS4 next, expect Hideo Kojima to come clean on whether his previous promise to deliver Solid Snake's latest (last?) adventure in 2007 is going to come true or not. Until then, stay tuned and cross your fingers.
