Guerrilla Games Introduces the Killzone 3 PS3 Retro Map Pack
Guerrilla Games Producer Aryeh Loeb has introduced the Killzone 3 PS3 Retro Map Pack today, which is free to all who pre-order the Killzone 3 standard or Helghast Editions.
To quote: Ever find yourself longing for the good old days of the year 2359, when the invasion of Helghan had just gotten underway and you were fighting a desperate bloody battle over every inch of its capital city?
That's perfectly understandable - why, we all do sometimes. But now there's the Killzone 3 Retro Map Pack, which lets you relive those glorious multiplayer battles in the market streets and canals of Pyrrhus!
The Retro Map Pack can be purchased from the PlayStation Network, however as we announced back in October of last year, the Retro Map Pack is available for FREE to anyone who pre-orders either the Killzone 3 standard or Helghast Editions at participating retailers.
The Retro Map Pack consists of two classic Killzone 2 multiplayer maps, thoroughly updated and reworked for Killzone 3's multiplayer mode. Check out the details below:
Game Type: Warzone - 24 Players
One of the largest maps from Killzone 2, Salamun Market has been re-balanced for maximum Killzone 3 carnage. After the Helghast ambush an ISA convoy on its main road, the whole market becomes a Warzone. Nostalgia meets brand-new Exoskeleton combat on this classic multiplayer map!
Game Type: Guerrilla Warfare - 16 Players
Months after the nuclear blast that ruined most of the city, Blood Gracht is slowly being reclaimed by Helghan's strange plant life. But when Guerrilla Warfare breaks out between ISA and Helghast troops, the canals once again run red with blood. The fan-favorite multiplayer map from Killzone 2 makes a triumphant return!
If you haven't played Killzone 2 yet, or if an old war injury prevents you from remembering what Salamun Market and Blood Gracht originally looked like (again - we've all been there), a comparison video of the old and the new versions of the maps will be posted here in a few days.
For now, enjoy reminiscing while you look at the screenshots, and remember to pre-order Killzone 3 to get the Retro Map Pack for FREE.
More PlayStation 3 News...
lol the games not even out yet and they're selling dlc. I wonder how much extra it'll cost those that didn't preorder for 2 maps which could of obviously been included in the game and without multiplayer will be a pain.
kz2 = garbage. i'm not falling into all this hype this time around. they had better fix the controls issue or this is going to be another garbage game once again.
That's a matter of fact. The developers announced DLC's before release start and sell the fast after the game release. It's bad that they don't put it on the retail disc. I remember the 1st DLC from Battlefield : Bad Company 2, the onslaught DLC which I purchased for roundabout 9,99$. It was an 1 Kb file, which only unlock this mode which was already inside the BD and was just disabled. Thats marketing management !
Hmm, I'll probably buy a Move when this comes out. Try out the whole Motion Control shooter thing.
How to get Retro map pack for EU/UK free
Thanks to DeathBYaSpoon from the Killzone 3 community forum, hes has shared a way to get the killzone 3 retro pack free for UK, and yes you can make a UK account and use it on US. It works.
Note: this only works for people with a UK/EU psn, and plan on getting a UK/EU copy of KZ3 (not sure about EU but it most likely works there too)
Good news for fellow Europeans and United Kindom-ers, you get the retro map pack free too ^^
Go to playstation home, and zone in to Home Square, you'll see an ISA infantry carrier in the mid, click it and you'll be in the Center Square where you play the KZ3 minigame fps thing. finish all the challenges and you'll get the code.
it's the same like the one in US PS home, except they only get the 3 unlock points, while we get the 3 unlock points AND the retro map pack. if you need any help reply here.
i should also point that fellow Deutschlanders will not be getting this offer (for obvious nazi references)
