November 16, 2006 - Reports rolled in earlier this morning from GameStop regarding its midnight launch plans for the release of the PlayStation 3. GameStop announced that it will be hosting midnight launch events at hundreds of its GameStop and EB Games stores across North America. At precisely 12:01 am on Friday, November 17, customers who have received confirmation of their system's availability will be able to secure a unit.
Due to a demand far exceeding the supply, PS3 systems will only be available at launch for customers who have received a confirmation of delivery by their local GameStop or EB Games.
If you are one of the privileged few who not only waited in line to snag a pre-order from either EB Games or Gamestop, but also received verification of delivery, then you can feel smug in the knowledge that you will get your PS3 months before the majority of systems will be widely available to the general public.
