EA and Sony Deny PS3 Cross-Game Voice Chat Rumors
Today Kotaku (linked above) followed up on yesterday's rumor from N4G insider Super_Secret on why Cross-Game Chat is currently missing in action on the PlayStation 3 console.
To quote: Rather than jump to conclusions, we decided to contact the two parties involved for comment on the situation.
First to respond was Jeff Brown, EA's vice president of corporate communication.
"Not no-how, not no-way did that ever happen. This is a total fabrication - total nonsense. We think voice chat is an extremely cool feature and added it to Madden/ PS3."
Brown then added, "We support cross-game voice on other systems and would be happy to do that on any console."
Soon after Brown responded to our inquiry, Sony's senior director of corporate communications Patrick Seybold also responded, keeping things short and sweet. "This is rumor and frankly not true."
Another corporate cover-up like the PS3 Slim's existance, or is the rumor officially debunked now? Feel free to comment below!

hmmm... sounds like EA and Sony are pissed now at Super_Secret.. LOL
If its there already - how come we can't use it? and why is it only for games that incorporate it? sounds like the same functionality as Custom Soundtracks.. really sucks.. needs to be like text-chat; as long as you can access the InGame XMB you can use the feature..
I really hope they sort their act out, and get this much desired feature into the firmware!
Yea I have been starting to buy more and more games for my 360 just because of cross game chat. Sony give us this already its been how many years now.
i still don't understand the fad of cross-game chat. really, what's so difficult about typing to other people while playing a game? it becomes much more easier with a USB keyboard. i could understand if people were having a very deep conversation, but that's what phones are for, especially phones with speaker phone built in.
i play PS3 online all the time, at the same time i usually type to people through messaging; It never affects my gameplay.
