TellTale Programmer: iPhone is Much More Powerful Than Wii

The Wii isn't the most powerful piece of hardware out there. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are more powerful, but Nintendo's machine is still putting up a fight.

Now Telltale Games has come into the picture and trashed the Wii's horsepower because of some complaints that the Wii version of Monkey Island has some framerate problems.

To quote: A Telltale Games programmer going by the name of Yare on the forums had this to say:

"The voices and textures are the way they are because we're limited to 40 megs for WiiWare titles. The PC versions of our games are usually 150+ megs, and most modern games range anywhere from 1-10 gigabytes or more. Talk to Nintendo about this one.

Frame rate issues will probably get sorted out eventually, but keep in mind that the Wii is just not a powerful console. An iPhone is much more powerful than a Wii, even."

I have said this time and time again. The Wii is Nintendo's last well selling console Period. The NDS may even be their last well selling hand held too. It's just too expensive for what is in it. And for those of you who say "They are targeting casual gamers, like Grandmothers and kids." Do you honestly think that they are going to upgrade? They bought 1 console that had bowling and tennis.

I understand some people actually like the Wii, and I feel sorry for you I really do. But again, I know how older people work, and they do not upgrade every 5 years like people who are into tech do.

No matter how much of an apple fanboy or a wii hater you are, there's no way to justify the statement that the iphone is more powerful than the wii.

It may have superior software for multimedia and other general apps, but clearly the hardware for games is seriously less powerful. Any comparison of game graphics will demonstrate this.
