Is Square-Enix Still the JRPG King?
Homicide from Neocrisis (linked above) writes: I'm pretty sure most of you know Square-Enix (formerly Squaresoft and Enix, two different companies).
They are one of the most successful and well known companies today mostly for their JRPGs like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. On a Sunday morning, I somehow stumbled onto the Square-Enix's Wikipedia page.
I saw their earlier titles such as Secret of Mana, Chrono and Super Mario RPG. They all brought a smile to my face as I can remember the days when I was a kid and enjoyed them.
Then their latest games were shown and the smile went away. Square went from being one of the best JRPG makers out there to just another RPG maker.
Is Square still the JRPG king we all know or have they lost it? More PlayStation 3 News...

They have only made a few decent games since the merger and no stellar ones. The rest were all crap. Square-Enix (since their merger in the last 2 generations) has never made a game that is half as good as Lost Odysee or Tales of Vesperia, and the worst part that is before the merger nearly everything Square or Enix made was amazing. Their current policy must be remove storyline and gameplay, replace with billion dollar visuals and FMVs.
They need to make another 16-bit RPG for XBLA, PSN or DS and I don't mean another lame remake like Chrono Trigger. Give us a true, new game that is at least as good as the worst of the 16-bit era and show us that at least someone with talent still works for square-enix and hasn't defected to Mistwalker.
