Square Enix: Final Fantasy XIII Could Be Delayed Further
In a meeting with Japanese press to discuss their financial forecast, Square Enix Holdings were quizzed about both Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XIII.
Both are obviously huge titles from an investors standpoint, and the answers given weren't exactly endearing.
When asked specifically about whether Final Fantasy XIII will be released within this fiscal year, the following reply was given:
"God knows. ... Is the truth (laughs). I'll try!"
So, although the Final Fantasy XIII demo issued Winter 2009 as the prospective Japanese release date, it looks like it might not even appear until after April 2010. Definitely not good news for Western gamers.

And now imagine the long port time that the 360 version is going to take, I have nothing against the 360 but if porting the game to the console is going to take even more time than it would take to just release it on the Ps3 I will really start to hate the console. MS would efectively screw over all the people expecting the game in the west because they want the release simultaneous in America.

If it is delayed it's good news for the PS3 because Japan will have that 5 month exclusivity, which means more sales.

Not sure whether this has to do with the porting thing. But If Sony is smart they'll do it the MS way and show SE some cash to release the damn game once it's finished on the PS3...
Us europeans already need to wait a year after the japanese release date.
For... what reason again?
SE can kiss the "good european" sales goodbye for this game, because I'm sure most of the europeans are going to import the game from North America.

Ps3 = no regional lockouts. So when FFXIII Comes out in Japan you can bet that people will be paying big money for them.
