Universal Unbrick Disc v2 is Now Available for Nintendo Wii

Sponsored Links
311w ago - Universal Unbrick Disc is now on v2 and will work with Firmware 4.0. Additionally, you will not need a modchip, cIOS-CORE or Rescue Menu hacks to be installed.

It will also work with the Original Rescue Menu and you only need a modded Original GC Controller and the cIOS249 installed. Thats all.

I changed the game partition to run with IOS249 and its set to autoboot... so as long you have the cIOS249 installed and its a cIOS with cDIP module it will work.

Download: Universal Unbrick Disc v2

Then I updated the ticket and tmd to be named as UUD but I had to change the game partition, the iSO itself and the crypted name of the game too to be fully displayed as "Universal Unbrick Disc"

And be sure you use an ORIGINAL GC Controller because we can't manage to boot into rescue menu with a 3rd-Party GC Controller.

How to Use:

• Extract and burn the image
• Turn on Wii and insert disc to auto boot WAD Manager

I have a bricked Wii, and it doesn't have priiloader, savemiifrii, or anything like that, but I did manage to get the ISO of bootmii on there. What follows are the system specs and serial number of the system (a dreaded Lu64+ machine, but I found that Memorex DVD +R burnables are readable on this system).

System Specs
Serial Number: LU653238263
System Menu: 4.2
cIOSs were installed using waninkoko and a few others, but all functioned.

Cause of black screen of death: Ran WiiSCU to update channels (and ONLY the channels for shop, weather, photo, etc.) Didn't mess around with the IOS files. Upside-down Homebrew when restarted, so went back to WiiSCU and downloaded IOS61 -trucha
update went through and installed fine, but crashed shortly after. Now bricked.

Things worth mentioning: Thanks to the IOS bootmii, I have a copy of the NAND from the system (made sure I made a back-up just in case something like this happened).

I'm looking into getting Infectus so I can dump my NAND back-up that I made prior to this happening. If memory serves me correctly, I think the original system menu was 4.2U when I hacked into it using Banner Bomb. All was functioning, except Brawl+ wasn't loading what I wanted, so I tried many things (somehow, it would load on my old 2GB SD card no problems, but with the 4+GB SDHC cards, no dice).

EDIT: I should also note that the only things I tried were emptying the files of a working SD card onto the SDHC cards, which included all updates to brawl+, but still wasn't working. I didn't go in and delete ANY IOSs as I know that's hazardous. Also, I didn't alter any other IOSs except for 61, which caused the homebrew upside-down problem mentioned above.

Thank you so much for the tip, a friend is checking my wii now, if he can't do anything, I'll try it, but, how can I boot the SSBB US game? it's autoboot or I need to use the GC control to boot the recovery mode and then run the game? and then can I just run the Wad manager or anytitle deleter to delete the corrupted wad or I need to install all the hack?

No sry.Becouse the Rescue Menu is coded to boot from disk.Would be nice to hack the RM to be able to boot from USB.
I dono hate priiloader. Its a good usefull app. This was only to the beginning where i bricked my first 3 Wii's and it was not my fould.I got angry because i modded some IOS and have made some other tests/mods and never bricked one single Wii.
And in case of D3-2 drives you can use a Modchip to boot US version of SSBB and make use of Smash Stack Exploit or simply change the drive to an older version. But without a custom system IOS containing the Trucha Bug you even then cant boot HB discs.

AT fizini
This is because your HBC is set to use the IOS60 and if you install a modded version of this IOS the HBC will be upside down.
To fix this simply install a NON modded version of IOS61 and start the Hackmii installer >> delate the HBC and install it again. The Hackmii installer then will set the HBC to use the NON modded IOS61 and you can use the cIOS60 for your needs.

AT marck2000
First official Nintendo Backup Disc wont work. Then you can change the drive but without a custom system IOS you even then will be not able to boot Resigned discs in case of missing trucha bug in the system ios.Only chance would be to use SSBB US to make use of the Smash Stake Exploit.

AT Zero34
Same as for marck2000 but in case you have a old drive you only would need a installed system ios to be able to unbrick your Wii.

Hey i got the same thing that happened to me.

Serial LU54
Menu: 4.2U
DVD ROM: D1
HBC Installed
WAD Manager 1.5 Installed
No modchip installed, only softmodded

But i got my wii on release day that's why its a D1 Drive.

Hi, I banner bricked my wii by installing a corrupt wad, here is the wii info:

Serial LU74
Menu: 4.2U
DVD ROM: D3-2
HBC Installed
WAD Manager 1.5 Installed
No modchip installed, only softmodded

I didn't install Priiloader or Bootmii (on boot2, only as IOS and of course is useless). I can't access Recovery Mode by presing + - A buttons (I didn't test the GC control yet). Does anybody know if I can install some hack or run HBC by running the Recovery Mode with GC control (and changing the DVD drive 'cause it won't boot any copies and installing a Drivekey) or run the Nintendo's Official Wii Backup Disc?

Thanks in advance

cfwprophet, all of these unbrick methods include using a restore disk, right? Is there any unbrick methods for wiis with D3-2 drives? Like a restore usb pendisk or something? And another thing, why do you guys hate preloader so much? It have been working flawlessly (i use priiloader instead) for some time now and it prevents some simple bricks like a bannerbrick for example.

Thanks a lot

A big oops on that one. I've upgraded my Wii because the complete softmod guide said so. I still do have Bootmii in the boot2 though.

And I've banner bricked my Wii like 20 times the last week and Bootmii2 runs smoothly on startup. So.. am I protected against all bricks?

Yes with Bootmii in boot2 you will be protected against all bricks.

AT T3h0wnz3r
do you need a gc controller 4 these? if so do you need one for all 3 different types of isos:

* lcud
* uud
* bootmii

Yes you will need a GC controller and no you dont need one per disc. You only need the GC controller to access the Wii's internal rescue menu (wich is implemented into the sysmenu). From there you will start the discs. But you will need a custom system IOS to be able to boot Hombrew Discs.
