260w ago - Sony PS3 Remote Play and Remote Keyboard Software is now released and intended for Sony Vaio PC's via PS3 Firmware 3.30, but unsure if either one will work with a standard PC using this Untested Patch, Revision 1, VRPPatch and Vista Patch or not so the links are available for people to try.

Download: Remote Play Software v1.0.0.15090 / Remote Keyboard Software v1.0.0.15190 / Sony Vaio Remote Play Patch to Work on Non-Sony PCs / Sony Vaio Remote Play Patch to Work on Non-Sony PCs r1 / VRPPatch / Sony Vaio Remote Play Vista Patch

To quote: Remote Play with PlayStation 3 is a new software feature for compatible VAIO models. It allows your VAIO to remotely access and playback certain content on your PS3 from virtually anywhere in the world.

Once the remote play connection is established between the VAIO and the PS3, the PS3's XrossMediaBar (XMB) menu screen appears on the display of the VAIO giving the VAIO playback control of your PS3.

From here you can playback your photos, music or videos stored on your PS3 with that content being streamed in real time to the screen of your VAIO.

For Australian customers who have purchased the Play TV Digital TV Tuner accessory for their PS3 this remote Play software allows you to either watch the TV recordings you have made on your PS3 or watch Live Australian TV on the display of your VAIO from anywhere in the world - great for the Soccer season if you are travelling!

Remote Keyboard with PlayStation 3 allows users to establish a bluetooth connection between the VAIO computer and PlayStation 3 so that users can make use of the computer's keyboard and touchpad to operate PlayStation 3 system non-game functions.

Remote Play with PlayStation 3 allows you to display the PlayStation 3 system on a VAIO computer and remote operate from the VAIO computer.

If a Play TV Digital TV Tuner (optional accessory for PlayStation 3) is available, users can also watch recorded TV programs or tune into live TV straight from the VAIO computer via the Internet.

Important Notes: The software available is only compatible with Windows 7 Operating System.

1. Please update the PlayStation 3 system software to the latest version.

2. To use Remote Play via the Internet, enable the router's UPnP function if the router in use supports UPnP. If the router in use does not support UPnP, you must set the router's port forwarding to allow communication to the PlayStation3 system from the Internet. The port number that is used by Remote Play is TCP: 9293. For information about setting this option, refer to the instructions supplied with the router.

3. Remote Play screen might blackout for a few seconds if the wireless LAN signal is poor or signal interference has occurred.

4. The connection to the PlayStation3 might be disconnected when it is established via the proxy server.

5. Blu-ray Discs and DVDs cannot be played. Copyright-protected video files cannot be played either.

6. AV Sync might be lost for a few seconds when Remote Play is started.

7. PlayStation 3 cannot be resumed by pressing Windows Key as "PS" button.

8. Other Bluetooth device cannot be used while using Remote Keyboard

9. Remote Keyboard with PlayStation3 and Remote Play with PlayStation3 cannot be used at the same time.

I can't tell you if this means you patch does not work at all, or does not work on my computer, but it fails to launch.

My configuration is Windows 7 x60 Home Premium Edition

Anyway, thanks for sharing the patch

Any ideas?

Changing my monitor resolution fixed this error.

Making it work on Vista by ned.smitty:

For those wanting to run this on Windows Vista, it's a pretty simple thing to do as I've managed to stream line my original updates to a minimum and figured it simplest to just say how to get it working instead of distributing the files, since the changes are so minimal.

After installing the application according to NTAuthority's instructions on Windows Vista, you'll see the following error:

The procedure entry point GetGestureInfo could not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.dll.

To get around this you'll need a couple of tools to get it working.

Read more about teraapi's user32hooking project here: http://code.google.com/p/user32hooking

Patch procedure:

1. Follow the NTAuthority's instructions in the readme file in patch package
2. Install HxD Hex Editor
3. Run HxD as Administrator
4. Open the file: "%programfiles%\Sony\Remote Play with PlayStation 3\UFCore.dll"
or "%programfiles(x86)%\Sony\Remote Play with PlayStation 3\UFCore.dll" on 64-bit windows.
5. Find the string "USER32" (Find -> Ctrl-F)
6. The text USER32 should be visible. Change to USER32 to ASER32. (Note by default the text is overwritten, so just place the cursor before the U in USER32 and press A.)

7. Save the file UFCore.dll and exit HxD.
8. Download the file aser32.dll from http://code.google.com/p/user32hooking/downloads/detail?name=aser32.dll and save to "%programfiles%\Sony\Remote Play with PlayStation 3" (or "%programfiles(x86)%\Sony\Remote Play with PlayStation 3" for 64-bit windows)
9. Run "Remote Play with Playstation 3". If all goes well it should start the registration procedure.

Note: if you get the error:
Remote Play with Playstation 3 cannot be used in this screen mode. Remote Play with Playstation 3 will quit.

Change your screen resolution and try again. e.g. 1920x1200 is unsupported for whatever reason, 1920x1080 is ok though...

If you copy it to the install dir and run it from there it works fine. If you turn on compatibility it says it won't run and crashes.

Thats the problem. It doesn't find the PS3. It doesn't sync with it. We are waiting for v2 and hope that one lets it sync.

You are mistaken. I just turned off the compatibility mode and the application will NOT run! It will crash. Turn it back on and the application launches fine.

If the program is blank when u run it right click VRP.exe and click troubleshoot compatibility and choose recommended settings which is XP (service pack2) and it should run with the text, but however it does not find the ps3 when it searches for it.
