April 26, 2010 // 8:09 pm - Today (linked above) reports that Record of Agarest War is hitting PSN this Thursday, however, they note it will require nearly 10GB of PS3 HDD space to install and close to 18GB of hard disk drive space to begin the download.

To quote: "PS3 owners will have the ability to purchase the game via PSN and download it right to their PS3 for safe storage. If you plan to buy it from the PSN Store this week, be prepared for a lengthy download and huge file size.

Record of Agarest War for the PS3 totals at 9228MB, but you'll need close to 18GB of space to begin the download. This download will take gamers a long time to complete - with it ranging based on your own connection speed.

At this moment, the estimated time for the download is a few hours on our connection."

Two things holding me back from this.

First, not knowing whether or not it has the extra items and dungeons. From wiki (so not sure if true) "New items and a new dungeon are available over Xbox LIVE as downloadable content."

This was for the re-release in Japan "Record of Agarest War: Re-appearance." Same game, just extra voice acting, and better visuals.

Wonder if those items/dungeon are included, or are coming to one or both systems.

Second, not on Blu-ray. Could get the UK version but I read somewhere the voice acting and translation wasn't the greatest.

1st of all people you won't lose 18gb,you will lose 9+ as the post says it needs 18gb to start the download. After the installation the setup file/downloaded file will be deleted.

2nd the graphics looks like golden axe from an amstrad 6128.

I want this game, but I'm not willing to sit for hours waiting for it to download only to get "An error has occurred during the installation process" and have to re-download it repeatedly. Sony needs to fix this problem that a growing number of users is having if they're going to put 10gb downloads on the PSN.

The game itself does NOT require 18 GB - you just need to have free space on the hard drive twice the size of the game to be able to downlaod and install it. It's the same with any other game or demo. It demo lets say is 1.5 GB you'd need to have at least 3 GB of free space to be able to download it.

Ater the game will install you can use remaining 9 GBs for something else. Simple solution - get 500 or at least 320 GB 2.5" (laptop size) hard drive and upgrade drive in your PS3 and you should be fine for a while. If you'll purchase some nice external USB enclosure at the same tiem you can use the original PS3 hard drive as backup for your PS3 or laptop or any other needs

IMHO it's cool, but not exceptional. At least I would not want to sell it before having played the game... I'm not very far though.

btw: In Europe we got the blu-ray version of this title. As far as I know there is no DLC and even the german version is english-only (apart from manual and box of course). So it would be possible to get a EU version from the UK for example if you really want the game and don't like the idea of giving up 10 Gb of HDD space for it.

O.o is this game any good? what's it like, and why are they making it seem like a big deal (other than the fact it takes up 18 gb)?
